House Tour on Apartment Therapy

Apartment Therapy has posted a tour of our home.

Thanks so much Jenny Butler for the lovely post and the photos.  You were great!  xoxo

You can see the tour  here.  I am thinking that I should do this regularly, in the interest of getting unvarnished opinions on the way I do things!    Much better than asking a friend what they think...

Have a great weekend.

Jane I just loved the House Tour, & that conversation pit is fabulous! And I think you've integrated your spaces seamlessly. You are braver than me to do this, so I've awarded you Millie's Gold Star Award for Bravest Post of The Week!!

Wow Jane.. Fantastic....
Your home is beautiful.. I love that you retained the original features at the front of the house... and the back has gorgeous light flowing throughout .. but.... you've been holding out on us.. you mentioned that you have your own watercolours and pastels... would love to see that!! By the way.. I really love the red rood... which is unusual for me to like red.. but it has such a great feel.. I know you have posted that room before... is terrific!! Great work Jane... bring on the watercolours... xxx Julie

Hi Jane... your house is fabulous - thanks for allowing us all to have a tour. I read through the comments on apartment therapy and felt strangely defensive on your behalf. People really do say what they think - I imagine you'd need to take a deep breath before reading! Now if I could just steal your bookshelves....

Congratulations Jane, I just love evrything about your house. Like you I like to mix contemporary with old and I think extensions should be contemporary rather than a pastcihe of the original home, especially the way we live our lives. The conversation pit and all the glass are to die for. I thought the comments were interesting as well, you can't please everyone, as long as you and your family enjoy the space, then it is successful.
HAppy weekend

When can I move in?
Very brave of you to agree to have an AT tour - those readers definitely have a crucifying mentality but I think you've come out fairly unscathed.
Anyway, great space, great art, great design - the pit rocks. Loved it all.

Crikey, I had to go back and read the comments. Now I know what an 'unvarnished opinion' really means. Personally, I think your home is amazing Jane. You are so lucky to have such a great blend of old character and modern, and I love your space. And, at the end of the day, who cares what others think. It is your home and your personal space.

Jane, your house is amazing. I loved both the new and the original parts of the house and how you have decorated throughout. Only this morning I was searching through google images for pictures of red front doors, loved yours! I also have serious library envy. Thank you for sharing and inspiring!

Jane, your home exudes such amazing style. I especially love 'the pit' and the garden. Actually, I think I love it all - a wonderful mix of contemporary & traditional. Lee :)

OOOhh My God!! I have seen your House (Tour) and what a wonderful wonderful home you have. I just loved everything. The painting in the livingroom - above the tv? - in particular, the color red on a wall, your front door, the never ending long hallway, but above all, your daughter's bedroom. Oooh and what about the bookshelf, the kitchen, the list goes on and on. Love it, love it, love it! XXX, Carmie.

Thanks so much for opening your home to AT Jane! Your home is truly beautiful and one of my most favorite places we've ever toured. Apologies if any comments are a bit harsh- sometimes the readers are a bit... ummmm... perhaps I shouldn't saw what I really think! Most of them are amazing it's just a handful that let the team down.
Thanks again!

Jane ~~ Your home is gorgeous. There is a restful calmness to it-and what more could we want in a home. You have fabulous taste-and your art! Thank you for allowing us into your special place.

Jane, I'm catching up here and just look at this wonderful conversation pit that you've been keeping from us for so long. It's utterly covetable - I'd fall into it at the end of a long day and be content to barely muster a conversation there beside the built-in bar. I'm very seriously envious.

Would LOVE to have a conversation in your conversation pit about those personal watercolours! I think your home is gorgeous Jane - but then again... your house has to suit YOU and not anyone else!
